There is no denying the obvious fact – Angelina Jolie is a natural beauty. Her iconic smile has stolen our hearts, making her one of the most popular actresses of the era.
We have seen her go through myriads of styles, played a variety of roles but one thing has never changed – her flawless skin. Jolie started seeing her dermatologist, Rhonda Rand, MD, when she was just 11 years old. Dr. Rand opens up to the world to share with us, Jolie’s fuss-free skincare routine.
Angelina Jolie’s not-so skincare secrets
- Ditch the makeup
She hates wearing makeup and only wears it when she has too. She has been spotted time and time again, shopping, traveling, at the beach or gardening, bearing her natural beauty.
But when she does wear makeup, she avoids dark lip colors, so she can highlight the natural shine of her eyes. The diva stated that many women mess up their look by not balancing their lip color with their eye color.
Dr. Rand said she is quick to remove makeup by using soft cleanser that restores the natural PhD to her skin and then moisturizing. She also is super-careful about what type of makeup she puts on her face, avoiding products made from harsh chemicals.
- She always uses a SPF sun block lotion
Even though Jolie has olive skin like her mom’s, she has never been a fan of tanning. She has established a good routine of applying sunscreen from a very early age to protect her skin. Plus, she has a wonderful collection of big floppy hats that she wears to protect her skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
- She takes her skincare routine with her
Jolie travels a lot, it seems she is always jet setting to Africa or Europe. Her skincare regime doesn’t get put on hold just because she is traveling, but she takes everything she needs to care for her skin overseas.
Jolie keeps her pores clean by using glycolic acid pads, which act as a mild cleanser that unclogs her pores, making them look smaller. Plus, the pads help to remove the stratum corneum, by increasing collagen and elastin.
- Moisturize, moisturize and moisturize some more
She takes great care in moisturizing her skin daily. Our skin exposed to ultraviolet rays, radiation, pollutants and free radicals that can cause premature aging. Fight back by daily moisturizing your skin with nutrients that it will just drink up.
Since Jolie underwent a double mastectomy in 2013, to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer, she experienced forced menopause a bit earlier than most women. Menopause often causes our skin to age faster. Her dermatologist, Dr. Rand, encouraged her to moisturize even more often. She uses products that your skin loves such as antioxidants, alphy-hydroxyls and retinol.
Angelina drinks water like she is a fish. She believes that water is the key element for healthy, glowing skin and without it, your skin will shrivel up and dry out. She drinks at least three liters of water a day.
